How To Create Website Shortcuts On Windows 11 Desktop Using Chrome Browser

Everyone has their favorite websites. While most users visit their favorite websites at least once daily, some visit multiple times. For instance, almost all of us visit news websites several times a day to get the latest news as it happens.

While you can create bookmarks for your favorite websites to quickly visit them, many users prefer creating desktop shortcuts to their favorite websites. You might want to create a desktop shortcut to the YouTube website, for example.

If you use the Google Chrome browser, you will be glad to know that creating a desktop shortcut to websites is very easy. In a few clicks, you can place a shortcut to any website on your Windows 11/10 desktop. Here is how.

Create website shortcut on Windows 11/10 desktop using Chrome browser

NOTE: Website shortcuts created with Chrome browser will be opened with the Chrome browser by default.

Step 1: Open the Chrome browser and then visit the website whose shortcut you would like to create on the desktop.

Step 2: Once the webpage/website is fully loaded, click the menu icon in the Chrome toolbar (refer to the picture below), click Cast, save and share and then click Create shortcut.

Step 3: A pop-up will now appear on the Chrome window. Type a name for the website shortcut you are about to create, and then click the Create button. That’s all! The website shortcut should now appear on the Windows 11/10 desktop immediately.

Double-clicking on the website shortcut will bring up the website/webpage in the Chrome browser.

Delete website/webpage shortcut from Windows 11

Deleting a website or webpage shortcut from the Windows 11/10 desktop is as easy as deleting any other file. Right-click on the website shortcut and then click Delete.
