How To Disable The Software Updater In Kaspersky

Last Updated on November 9, 2018 by admin 1 Comment

Kaspersky Internet Security is no longer just a good antivirus software for Windows operating system. Its recent versions offer many handy tools that help you keep your system running smoothly.

Recent versions of Kaspersky Internet Security solution come with a tool called Software Updater. As the name suggests, the tool automatically checks for updates for programs installed on your PC and automatically installs them if available. The software updater asks for your intervention only if the update requires you to accept a new license agreement.

While it’s a good thing to keep your installed programs up-to-date, many of you might want to manually update installed programs to avoid issues that new updates often come with. Some people install software updates usually a week after the release of updates.

If you would also like to disable the Kaspersky Software Updater, you can do so with ease. Here is how to disable the Software Updater utility in Kaspersky Internet Security solution for Windows operating system.

Turn off the Software Updater in Kaspersky

NOTE: If you are using some other software to protect your PC but love the idea of automatically updating installed software, please check out the standalone version of Kaspersky Free Software Updater which doesn’t require you install Kaspersky Internet Security.

Step 1: Double-click on the Kaspersky icon in the system tray to open the home page of Kaspersky Internet Security. Alternatively, you can launch Kaspersky Internet Security from the Start/taskbar as well.

Step 2: Click on the gear/settings icon located at the lower left bottom of the window to open the Settings page.

Kaspersky Software Updater too often proposes update to immature (beta) releases, and sometimes gets lost when performing an update – when, a few minutes ago, supposedly updating my version of Inkscape (which had been working perfectly well) it has left me with an error “code execution cannot proceed…libicuin67.dll … not found”.
It’s a pain. I have now disabled Software Updater and shall rely on my own regular review and update schedule. It works every time.
