How To Enable Or Disable The Timeline In Windows 10

Last Updated on April 15, 2018 by admin 1 Comment

Timeline is one of the major features introduced with Spring Creators Update (version 1803) for Windows 10. With the Timeline feature, you can easily get back to what you were doing with docs, certain apps, and other activities on your PC.

With the timeline feature, you can view activities from the past 30 days, and resume those activities with a click. This means that, you can not only view activities from the past, but you can also resume those activities. For instance, if you were browsing a page on our IntoWindows website two weeks ago in Edge browser, you can get back to the same webpage with a click.

To view your timeline, use Windows logo + Tab keys or click on the Task View icon on the taskbar. At the top of the Task View screen, you can view all the current activities that are happening on your PC right now. To view past activities, use the scroll bar on the right-side. As said, it can display activities up to 30 days.

If you want to see more activities for a date, click the See all activities link present next to the date.

While this is a brilliant feature addition to Windows 10, not all users will be using it. On top of that, all programs do not support this feature. That is, Windows 10 can show only activities from certain apps.

Also, the feature works great only if you are using a Microsoft account to sign in to Windows 10. Local account users will see only current and recent activities when they open the task view screen.

If you feel that you don’t need this feature, you can turn off the timeline feature under Settings app.

Turn on or off the Timeline in Windows 10

To enable or disable the Timeline feature, complete the directions given below.

Step 1: Navigate to Settings app > Privacy > Activity History.

Step 2: Here, you can stop Windows 10 from showing your activities moving the slider next to your account to the off position. But this will only prevent Windows 10 from displaying your past activities in the task view screen.

If you want to stop Windows 10 from collecting your activities, turn off Let Windows collect my activities from this PC option. You can also turn off Let Windows sync my activities from this PC for peace of mind.

There is also an option to delete the activity history from your Windows 10 PC. Click Manage my Microsoft Account activity data link and then follow on-screen directions to view and clear the collected activities data.

This still leaves trash on the screen having to do with: see more days and learning about time line.
I want to completely prevent these displays. I found time line to be useless to me and don’t want to be reminded about it.

SO, is there a way to eliminate things about time line? (I wouldn’t mind removing it completely.)
