Earlier this week, Mozilla released the first beta of its upcoming Firefox browser version 3.6 for download. The latest version of Firefox comes with Tab Preview feature, but it is disabled by default.
Tab Preview feature in Firefox 3.6 lets you move to any opened tab just by using Ctrl + Tab keys (similar to Alt + Tab in Windows). If you have opened enough number of tabs (say 25+) and find it difficult to switch using Alt + Tab feature, then you can use Ctrl + Shift + Tab which allows you switch to a tab using the tab search option.
As this feature is not enabled by default, you need to turn it on by following the steps given below.
To enable tab preview feature in Firefox 3.6:
1. Run Firefox 3.6 browser.
2. Enter about:config in the address bar and hit enter.
3. Click I”ll be careful, I promise! button.
4. Now type tab in the filter box and locate the two entries given below.
browser.allTabs.previews
browser.ctrlTab.previews
5. Double-click on the entries to change the value to True.
Now you should be able to view tab preview feature in Firefox 3.6. Note that you can view this feature only if you have opened three or more tabs.
To disable tab preview feature in Firefox 3.6:
1. Run Firefox 3.6 browser.
2. Enter about:config in the address bar and hit enter.
3. Click I”ll be careful, I promise! button.
4. Now type tab in the filter box and locate the two entries given below.
5. Double-click on the entries to change the value to False.
