Up until about a decade ago, web browsers’ new tab pages were clean. These days, however, they show a variety of information on the new tab page.
Some web browsers display information such as news and weather right on the new tab. Apple Safari, thankfully, does not display news or sponsored links on its new tab page or the start page.
With default settings, the Apple Safari browser on Mac shows favorites, a reading list, and recently closed tabs on the new tab or start page.
While favorites and reading list can be helpful, not all users might not want to show recently closed tabs on the new tab page to protect their privacy. Of course, Safari does not show the tab closed in the private browsing mode.
If you do not want Safari to show recently closed tabs on the new tab page, you can change the default settings to hide them. Here is how.
NOTE: After turning off recently closed tabs on the Safari new tab page, you can click on the History menu and then click Recently closed to view recently closed tabs in Safari.
