How To Quicky View Windows Experience Index Score In Windows 10

Windows Experience Index, one of the many features introduced with Windows Vista, has been dropped from Windows 8.1 and the latest Windows 10 versions. For those who don’t know, Windows Experience Index offered an easy way to understand the performance of your PC’s CPU, memory, disk drive, and graphics card by rating them.

Windows 10 doesn’t display Windows Experience Index scores in the Control Panel, but the feature has not been completely dropped as well. Windows 10 seems to generate these WEI scores. It’s just that the score is no longer displayed in Control Panel.

There are a couple of third-party utilities out there to view Windows Experience Index score in Windows 10 as well. Alternatively, one can also manually open a system file Formal.Assessment (Initial).WinSAT located under C:\Windows\Performance\ WinSAT\DataStore folder to view performance score generated by Windows System Assessment Tool.

In addition to above methods, there are two more cool ways to check out Windows Experience Index performance score in Windows 10. Please note that these methods seem to work only for users who have not performed a clean install after upgrading from Windows 7/8 to Windows 10.

Method 1 of 2

Use Run command to check WEI score

Step 1: Open Run command dialog by simultaneously pressing Windows logo and R keys.

Step 2: In the field, type Shell:games and then press Enter key to open Games folder and view the WEI base score. As you can see, it shows only the base score and not scores for all components.

Method 2 of 2

Use PowerShell to view WEI score

Step 1: Type PowerShell in Start/taskbar search field to see Windows PowerShell in search results. Right-click on Windows PowerShell and then click Run as administrator option.

Click Yes button if you see the User Account Control prompt to open PowerShell with admin rights.

Step 2: In the PowerShell, copy and paste the following command:

Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_WinSAT

Press Enter key to view WEI score for all CPU, RAM, storage, graphics, and base score.
