We are in the era of Artificial Intelligence! Ever since OpenAI released ChatGPT to the world in November 2022, several companies have come up with their own AI tools (large language models).
Microsoft teamed up with OpenAI to release an AI tool for Windows called Copilot. New Windows PCs are being released with a dedicated key to open the Copilot app!
Several computer users have been using artificial intelligence to improve their writing, create and edit images, generate codes, generate ideas, and more. That said, a large number of users do not like to use artificial intelligence in its current form for various reasons.
If you are one of those users who do not like Artificial Intelligence tools, you might be interested in uninstalling the Microsoft Copilot app from your Windows 11 installation.
This guide shows you how to uninstall or reinstall the official Microsoft Copilot app.
Uninstall the Copilot app from Windows 11 installation
Step 1: Open the Windows 11 Settings app by right-clicking the Windows logo on the taskbar and then clicking the Settings option.
Alternatively, you can use the Windows logo + I hotkey to open the same.
Step 2: On the left pane of the Settings app, click Apps. Now, on the right side, click Installed apps.
Step 3: The Installed apps page, well, shows all apps installed on your Windows 11 PC. On this page, ensure that the List view is selected, and then scroll down the page to see the Copilot entry.
Step 4: Click the three vertical dots next to the Copilot entry and then click the Uninstall option.
Step 5: Click the Uninstall button again when you are asked for confirmation to uninstall and remove Copilot from your Windows 11 installation. The uninstallation should not take more than a few seconds.
Reinstall Copilot on Windows 11 PC
If the Copilot app refuses to open or does not work correctly, you might want to reinstall it. Reinstalling the app should fix all issues.
Step 1: Follow the above-mentioned directions to uninstall Copilot from your Windows 11 installation.
Step 2: Once the Copilot app is uninstalled, open the Microsoft Store app.
Step 3: In the Store app, search for Microsoft Copilot and then click on its entry to open the Copilot page. Click the Install/Get button to download and install the Copilot app. That’s it!
