How To Uninstall Or Reinstall Snipping Tool In Windows 11

The Snipping Tool is the default screen-capturing software in Windows 11. With the Snipping Tool, you can capture screenshots and annotate them.

The best part is that the latest version of the Snipping Tool supports screen recording as well. So, you can either record a selected area or full screen.

If you have been encountering issues with the Snipping Tool, you can reset, repair and reinstall it to solve problems.

This guide shows you how to reinstall the Snipping Tool in Windows 11.

Reinstall the Snipping Tool in Windows 11

Step 1: The first step is to open the Settings app. In the Settings app, navigate to Apps > Installed apps page.

Step 2: The page displays all installed apps on the right side. Here, look for the Snipping Tool entry.

Step 3: Once you find the Snipping Tool’s entry, click the three dots next to it and then click the Uninstall option.

Step 4: When asked for confirmation, click the Uninstall button to uninstall and remove Snipping Tool from your Windows 11 installation.

Step 5: Now that you have uninstalled Snipping Tool, it’s time to install a fresh copy of the same.

Open the Microsoft Store app using search, search for the Snipping Tool, and then click the Get/Install button to download and install the Snipping Tool.

That’s it! You have successfully reinstalled the Snipping Tool.

Reset or repair the Snipping Tool in Windows 11

Step 1: Go to Settings > Apps > Installed apps page.

Step 2: Click the three dots next to the Snipping Tool and then click Advanced options.

Step 3: Finally, in the Reset section, click the Repair button to repair the Snipping Tool and click the Reset button to reset the same to default settings.
