The Photos app, which is the default photo viewer in Windows 10, is not just an app to view pictures, but it’s an excellent photo enhancer as well. Although many users prefer enabling and using the good old Windows Photo Viewer in Windows 10, the Photos app is definitely getting better with time.

If you are bored or not really happy with the default Photos app, you can try out a new program called LightGallery.

LightGallery

LightGallery is a new image viewer created for Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems. The LightGallery image viewer is just an image viewer and doesn’t offer any editing or enhancement tools, but the program is a fantastic image viewer.

LightGallery features

To start with, LightGallery comes with over 20 beautiful animations to display your images. So when you open a picture file in LightGallery, the picture will appear on your screen with a beautiful animation.

Besides that, if you open a folder containing multiple images, you will see all pictures as thumbnails so that you can easily view the image that you’re looking for or easily switch between images. The thumbnails can be turned off if and when required by clicking the thumbnail icon.

To quickly switch between images, simply hover the mouse cursor on thumbnails and then rotate the mouse wheel (scroll wheel).

When an image is opened in LightGallery, you can simply double-click on the image file to see its actual size (resolution).

There are numerous settings and options to configure LightGallery.

Like other photo viewers, LightGallery also supports slideshow. You can also change the slideshow speed if required.

The only catch with the program is that when you right-click on a picture file and choose LightGallery to open the selected image file, LightGallery program launches but won’t display the picture file. You will have to either drag and drop or click the File menu and click Open option choose and view a picture file. In short, there is no point in setting the current version of LightGallery as the default photo viewer, as it can’t directly open pictures. Options to rotate pictures are missing as well.

Overall, an excellent image viewer software for Windows operating system. The program is fully compatible with all recent versions of the Windows operating system, including the latest Windows 10.

Visit the following page to download LightGallery software for your PC. Settings to change thumb width, thumb container height, and thumb margin can be accessed by clicking the Thumbnail menu.
