WhatsApp is a hugely popular instant messaging service. WhatsApp app is not only available for smartphone operating systems like Android and iOS, but it’s also available for Windows and macOS.
Over the last few years, many PC users have installed WhatsApp on their Windows 10/11 computers as they can access WhatsApp right from their computers even when their smartphone is not connected to the internet.
If you have also installed WhatsApp on your Windows 10/11 PC and use it regularly to share and receive photos and videos, you might be curious to know the location or the folder where WhatsApp saves all downloaded videos, photos, PDFs, and other files.
Where does WhatsApp save photos and videos on Windows 10/11 computer?
With default settings, WhatsApp on your Windows 10/11 PC saves all downloaded media files to the following location present on your Windows 10/11 installation drive.
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Packages\5319275A.WhatsAppDesktop_cv1g1gvanyjgm\LocalState\shared\transfers
Access WhatsApp storage location on Windows 10/11 PC
As said before, the WhatsApp app on your Windows 10/11 PC saves all downloaded pictures, videos, and other files to the location mentioned above. But how do we access it?
Step 1: Open This PC.
Step 2: Before we proceed further, we need to configure the File Explorer to show hidden and system files.
On Windows 11, click View in the toolbar, click Show, and then select the Hidden items option to show all hidden files and folders. On Windows 10, click View and then select Hidden items checkbox.
Step 3: Now, in This PC, double-click on the drive where Windows 10/11 is installed and navigate to the following location by clicking those folders.
\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Packages\5319275A.WhatsAppDesktop_cv1g1gvanyjgm\LocalState\shared\transfers
In the above path, UserName is your actual user account name.
Under the Transfers folder, you will see multiple folders. Open them to see your WhatsApp images, videos, PDFs, and other files.
