Better Explorer: Windows 8 Ribbon UI Explorer For Windows 7
Posted October 11, 2011 – 8:14 pm in: FreewareA little over a month ago, we covered a workaround to get Windows 8 Ribbon UI Explorer in Windows 7 with the help of Styler software. Now we have another free software that brings Windows 8 Ribbon UI and some additional features to Windows 7.
Better Explorer, a replacement for Windows Explorer, is a free software designed to get Ribbon UI in Windows 7 (SP1). Better Explorer provides almost every feature available in Windows 8 Explorer for Windows 7. With this, you can get Ribbon UI, tabs (not available in Windows 8), Quick Access toolbar, show/hide ribbon, move to and copy to option in ribbon, and the missing Up button as well.
The current Alpha build doesn’t work smoothly but works on both x86 and x64 versions of Windows 7. The developer of this software plans to add more features such as support to change library, extended jump list support, and double-pane explorer in the next version.
To use this software, first download Better Explorer installer from the link provided at the end of this article and then install it. As the software is still in Alpha stage, we recommend creating manual system restore point before installing this software.
Do note that this is a replacement for Windows 7 Explorer. If you want to get Ribbon UI in Windows 7 Explorer, we recommend how to get Windows 8 Ribbon UI in Windows 7 Explorer guide.

This program does not replace win 7 explorer at all. I’ve restarted, reinstalled (as admin) and still no luck. It does work if launched…nothing more…no use if it does not replace win 7 explorer. Uninstalled…bye bye!
Better Explorer is still in Alpha stage. So, we need wait until the beta release to see all functions working.
