Aero Glass Enabler For Windows 10 Is Here

Last Updated on September 25, 2020 by admin 2 Comments

Aero Glass transparency was one of the most noticeable features introduced with Windows Vista. The feature was further improved in Windows 7 but Microsoft moved away from Aero glass with the launch of Windows 8.

The lack of Aero glass transparency is certainly one of the reasons why many users are still using Windows 7 and are reluctant to move to newer versions. In other words, lack of Aero glass and old-style Start menu made Windows 8/8.1 what it’s today, a failure in terms of market share.

Many Windows users were expecting Microsoft to bring back the Aero glass transparency with Windows 10 but it looks like Aero glass is not going to make a comeback with Windows 10.

Although Microsoft might bring back the Windows 7-style Aero glass in the future builds of Windows 10, the chances are very slim.

Since Windows 10 will run on desktops, tablets and smart phones, it’s important for Microsoft to make the operating system battery friendly! And as you likely know, this is the reason why Aero is not present in Windows 8/8.1.

The good news is that you don’t need to wait for Microsoft to bring back Aero Glass transparency in Windows 10. Big Muscle, the developer behind Aero Glass for Windows 8.1, has released experimental debug version for latest official preview build of Windows 10.

Aero Glass software brings Windows 7-style Aero glass transparency to Windows 10. In other words, Aero Glass software adds the eye-candy Aero to window titlebar, Start, and taskbar.

Note that the currently available Aero Glass offers experimental support and might not work as expected. The tool is not available as an installer for the latest build of Windows 10. You need to download the zip file (link available at the end of this article) and schedule the Aerohost to start with Windows. We will update this article with more information once Windows 10 RTM is released to public.

That said, at times, I feel that Aero Glass transparency doesn’t look that good in Windows 10 thanks to its paper thin window borders.
