Enable “Do You Want To Close All Tabs?” Prompt In Edge

If two or more tabs are running, Microsoft Edge shows “Do you want to close all tabs?” prompt when you attempt to close the browser. The “Do you want to close all tabs?” prompt helps you avoid accidentally closing the browser when multiple tabs are running.

The “Do you want to close all tabs?” prompt, as you might know, shows an option called Always close all tabs option. If you check the option, the Edge browser will not show the prompt before closing the browser even if multiple tabs are running.

If you had, for some reason, checked the Always close all tabs option and now want to restore “Do you want to close all tabs?” prompt, you will be surprised to know that there is no option in Microsoft Edge to restore the prompt.

Luckily, you can restore “Do you want to close all tabs?” prompt by making a small change to Registry.

Follow given below directions to enable “Do you want to close all tabs?” prompt in Edge browser.

Turn on “Do you want to close all tabs?” prompt in Edge

Important: Since the procedure requires you make changes to Registry, we recommend you either create a system restore point or backup Registry.

Step 1: Open the Registry Editor by typing Regedit in Start/taskbar search field and then pressing Enter key. The Registry Editor can also be launched by typing Regedit.exe in Run command box.

When you see the User Account Control prompt, click Yes button.

Step 2: In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\ Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\AppContainer\Storage \microsoft.microsoftedge_8wekyb3d8bbwe\ MicrosoftEdge\Main

Step 3: On the right-side, create a new DWORD value by right-clicking on an empty spot, clicking New, and then clicking DWORD (32-bit) Value. Name it AskToCloseAllTabs.

Step 4: Finally, double-click on AskToCloseAllTabs DWORD and change its value data to 1 (one) to enable “Do you want to close all tabs” prompt.
