How To Show Or Hide The Vertical Tabs Button In Microsoft Edge

The recently released Microsoft Edge version 89 supports vertical tabs. When you enable vertical tabs in the Edge browser, the tabs appear vertically on the screen’s left-side instead of the default location that we are all familiar with.

Aligning tabs vertically is easy in Edge 89 and later versions. The browser shows a dedicated button on the extreme left of the toolbar, which you can click to turn on the vertical tabs in Edge.

The vertical tabs feature might be handy for some users. No double about that. But most users like the default horizontal position of tabs, mostly because they have been using the horizontal tabs for years.

If you also like the default horizontal tabs in the Edge browser, you might want to disable and remove the Enable vertical tabs button from the toolbar. As you would expect, Edge allows users to show or hide the vertical tabs button.

Show or hide the ‘Enable vertical tabs’ button in Edge

Step 1: Open the Edge settings page. To do this, click on the three horizontal dots icon located upper-right of the browser window and then click Settings (refer to the picture below).

Step 2: On the Settings page’s left-pane, click on the Appearance tab to switch to the same.

Step 3: Finally, in the Customize toolbar section, turn off the option labeled Show vertical tabs button to hide and remove the Enable vertical tabs button from the toolbar.

To show the vertical tabs button again in the Edge toolbar, turn on the Show vertical tabs button. That is it!

Hide and remove ‘Enable vertical tabs’ button from Edge toolbar

This is the fastest way to hide and remove the vertical tabs button.

Step 1: Open the Edge browser if it is not already.

Step 2: Perform a right-click on the Enable vertical tabs button to reveal the Hide from toolbar option. Click on the Hide from toolbar option to hide and remove the Enable vertical tabs button instantaneously. Simple as that!
