How To Update HP Printer Driver In Windows 11

The HP printer driver installed on your Windows 11 computer enables your Windows 11 PC to interact with your printer. So, keeping your HP printer driver updated is important for the best performance.

Updating your HP printer driver is easy in Windows 11. You do not need third-party tools to update the printer driver.

This guide shows you the two easy ways to update your HP printer driver to the latest version.

NOTE 1: Although we are updating the HP printer driver, this method applies to all printer drivers. You can update any printer driver by following the directions below.

Method 1 of 2

Update HP Printer driver via Windows Update in Windows 11

This is the most easiest and safest way to update your HP printer driver.

Step 1: Open the Windows 11 Settings app using search or Windows logo + I hotkey. Alternatively, right-click on the Start button (Windows logo icon) on the taskbar and then click Settings to open the same.

Step 2: On the left pane, click Windows Update to navigate to the Windows Update page.

Step 3: Here, on the right side, Advanced options.

Step 4: In the Additional options section, click Optional updates.

Step 5: Next, on the resulting page, click Driver updates to see updates available to installed device drivers. For instance, if an update is available to your HP printer driver, it will appear here. Likewise, if an update is available to the Bluetooth driver, it will appear here.

Step 6: If an update is available for your HP printer driver, select the same by selecting the checkbox next to it and then click the Download and install button to download and install the update in the background. You do not need to do anything else from your end.

The HP printer driver should be updated in a few minutes.

Method 2 of 2

Manually update HP printer driver in Windows 11

The method mentioned above is the easiest way out there to update the printer driver to the latest version. If it’s not working for some reason, you can try to manually update the driver.

NOTE: Before downloading the printer driver, you might want to know the current version number installed on your PC, as there is no point in downloading and installing the same driver version all over again. Step 1: Visit this official HP page, type your printer model number, serial number, or product name, and then download the latest version of the printer driver.

NOTE: The printer model number, serial number, or product name should be available on your printer.

Step 2: Run the downloaded printer driver setup file and then follow the easy on-screen directions to update the HP printer driver to the latest version.
