How To Check The Keyboard Battery Level In Windows 11

Last Updated on September 11, 2025 by admin Leave a Comment

Have you connected an external keyboard with a built-in or AA/AAA battery to your Windows 11 desktop or laptop? Would you like to check the current battery level of the keyboard? Here is how to check the current battery level of your keyboard connected to a Windows 11 device.

As you likely know, modern keyboards are highly optimized for efficiency. In other words, they require very little power to operate. Most keyboard batteries last for several months, if not for years, depending on your usage. Therefore, you do not need to check the keyboard battery level frequently.

The following are two easy ways to check the keyboard battery level in Windows 11.

Method 1 of 2

Check the keyboard battery level via the Settings app in Windows 11

IMPORTANT: Only keyboards connected via Bluetooth support this feature. If your keyboard does not support Bluetooth or is connected to your Windows 11 machine via a cable or receiver, please use the method mentioned in Method 2 (scroll down to see).

Step 1: Open the Windows 11 Settings app using search or with the help of Windows logo + I keyboard shortcut.

Step 2: In the Settings app, click ‘Bluetooth and devices’ in the left pane.

Step 3: On the right side, click ‘Devices’ to see Bluetooth devices connected to your Windows 11 PC, including your keyboard.

Step 4: The ‘Input’ section displays all input devices, such as the mouse and keyboard. The battery level appears next to your keyboard’s entry. As you can see in the picture, Windows 11 displays both battery percentage and battery icon (with current battery level) next to the keyboard.

Method 2 of 2

Use the official keyboard manager to know the keyboard battery level in Windows 11

NOTE: This method is beneficial if your keyboard does not support Bluetooth or is connected to your Windows 11 PC with a receiver.

All keyboard manufacturers offer their own software to manage their keyboards. Please do not get confused these apps with the keyboard driver. Both are different!

These official apps not only display the current level of the keyboard battery but also let you customize the keys and update the firmware.

For instance, Dell offers a tool called Dell Display and Peripheral Manager, which shows the current battery level of your Dell keyboard.

Step 1: Download and install the official software designed to manage your keyboard.

Step 2: The software should automatically detect your keyboard. If not, manually add it.

Step 3: The software should now display the current battery level of the keyboard.

Tip: If you don’t intend to use the keyboard for an extended period, turning it off is a good idea to conserve and improve battery life. Most keyboards offer a dedicated physical switch to turn on or off.
