Last Updated on June 19, 2026 by admin Leave a Comment

On a Windows 11 PC, icons on the taskbar, including the Start button (Windows logo icon), are centered. As a result, the Start menu opens by default at the center of the screen.

Many users like the new position of the Start button. However, a good number of users, especially those who just upgraded from Windows 10, prefer to have the Start button on the left side of the taskbar.

The team behind Windows 11 knows that many users prefer to have the Start button on the left of the taskbar, just like in the previous versions of the Windows operating system, as they are used to the position, and offers a built-in setting to move the Start button position from the default center to the left on the taskbar.

This guide shows you how to move the Start button to the left of the Windows 11 taskbar.

NOTE: Once you move the Start button to the left on the taskbar, all other icons on the taskbar will also be aligned to the left, just like in Windows 10 and earlier versions. The Start menu will also open on the left.
