I love the Start screen in Windows 8/8.1 and strongly feel that it’s way better than the old Start screen for a variety of reasons. That said, just like any other software, it’s not perfect and there is certainly room for improvement.
There are plenty of free apps out there to enhance the Start screen and make it even more useful. In our previous articles, we have talked about apps that help you add widgets to the Start screen, apps that add clock to the Start screen, apps that let you add sticky notes to the Start and also, apps that let you show Start screen within the desktop environment.
In this guide, we are going to share a free app that lets you view the battery status tile right on your Start screen in the form of a tile.
Please note that you can also view the battery status without having to install third-party app in Windows 8.1 Update. When you’re in the Start screen, simply move the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen to view the taskbar which includes the battery status icon in the system tray.
Battery tile for your Start screen
Battery Level is a free app designed to show battery status on the Start screen of your Windows 8/8.1 Start screen. If you love the Start screen and want to make it even more powerful and useful, Battery Level is one of the very useful apps for you. Once installed, you’ll need to pin the app to the Start screen by right-clicking on the app in the Apps screen and then clicking Pin to Start option in order to show battery status on the Start screen.
All in all, Battery Level is a very useful app for your Start screen provided that you’re using a laptop or tablet or a desktop with an Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) unit. The current version of Battery Level app doesn’t show the battery level status in a very elegant way but it does its job very well.
Please note that, in order to make this app work properly, you need to download and run a .bat file with admin rights. We have scanned the .bat file using VirusTotal service and can confirm that it’s safe to run.
