Those of you have been using Windows 8 for a while must be knowing that Windows 8 doesn’t include Windows Media Center by default. In simple words, Microsoft has removed Windows Media Center from Windows 8 and users must need to purchase Media Center as a separate add-on.
Users who are running Windows 8 Pro edition (see Windows 8 vs Windows 8 Pro) can purchase the Media Center add-on and then use Add features to Windows 8 wizard to get the feature (see install Media Center in Windows 8).
Computer users who are running the Windows 8 edition must need to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro edition to purchase and install Media Center. The Pro pack is available for $69.99 and Windows Media Center packs is available for $9.99.
The good news is that Microsoft, for a limited time (until January 31, 2013), allowing users get Windows 8 Media Center Pack for free! That’s right. Windows 8 Pro users can now get the Media Center Pack for free by completing the given below instructions.
Step 1: Visit this official Windows 8 page from your web browser.
Step 2: Enter a valid email address, enter the characters shown in the picture, and then click Send my product key button.
Step 3: You will receive a mail containing your Windows 8 Media Center pack key.
Step 4: Next, open Add features to Windows 8 wizard by typing Add features in Start screen search (switch to Settings) and pressing Enter key. Click Yes for the UAC prompt.
Step 5: Once Add features to Windows 8 wizard is opened, click I already have a product key, enter the product key that you received from Microsoft, click Next button, and accept license terms and then click Add features button. That’s it!
