Microsoft has launched an all-new Outlook app for Windows 10 and Windows 11 to replace the old Mail app. The new Outlook app, which is a web-based app, will eventually replace the classic Outlook for desktop client as well.
Since the new Outlook app for Windows is web-based, its design is similar to the Outlook.com web interface. So, users who have been using the Outlook.com web interface to manage their emails will not have to go through a learning curve when they start using the new Outlook app.
Users who were using the built-in Mail app might need a little help getting used to the new user interface of the Outlook app.
With default settings, the new Outlook app uses Segoe UI font. If you prefer using a font other than Segoe UI, you can select a font and font size of your choice.
NOTE 1: The current version of the new Outlook app does not let you set a font and font size as the default. This means you need to change the font and font size each time you want to compose a new email.
Change new Outlook font and font size
This guide shows you how to change the email font and font size in the new Outlook app for Windows.
Step 1: Open the new Outlook app. Click on the New email button or use Ctrl + N or Ctrl + Shift + M to start creating a new email message.
Step 2: Here, click on the email body area or type a letter in the email body area.
Please note that you cannot change the font and font size when the To, CC, BCC or subject field is selected. You must select the email body area first to be able to change font and font size.
Step 3: Now, select a font and font size from the respective drop-downs in the toolbar (refer to the picture below). Once again, if font and font size drop-downs are grayed out, it’s because you have not selected the email body area. That’s it!
