The new Outlook app is all set to replace the aging Mail app in Windows 10 and Windows 11.
By default, the new Outlook app, just like the Mail app, automatically sorts your email messages into Focused and Other. When email messages are sorted, important email messages are automatically moved to Focused and the rest to Other.
The Focused inbox concept works quite well. You can make it even better by configuring your Microsoft email account to automatically move email messages from specific senders to Focused or Other.
While sorting email messages into Focused and Other might help you focus on important emails, not all users like this automatic sorting and might want to disable the Focused inbox feature.
This guide will show you how to disable or turn off the Focused inbox feature in the new Outlook app for Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Turn off Focused and Other in the new Outlook app on Windows 10/11
Step 1: Open the new Outlook app.
Step 2: Click the gear/settings icon in the toolbar to open the Outlook settings page.
Step 3: On the left pane, click Email.
Step 4: Now, click Layout (refer to the picture below).
Step 5: Finally, turn off the Don’t sort my messages option under the Focused Inbox section to turn off the Focused Inbox feature.
Click the Save button to apply the change.
