PC users who have used Windows 10 and earlier versions would know that these versions let you move the taskbar from the default bottom position to the left, top, or right of the screen without any drama.
However, with Windows 11, the ability to move the taskbar from the bottom of the screen to other sides of the screen was removed for some reason. A significant number of users had requested that the Windows 11 development team allow moving the taskbar.
Finally, about five years after the initial launch of Windows 11, Microsoft is now allowing users to move the taskbar from the default bottom to the top, left, or right without additional software.
Starting with the Windows 11 KB5120998 update, the taskbar now supports multiple positions on the screen. That is, in addition to the default bottom of the screen, you can place it on the left, top, or right.

Change taskbar position on screen in Windows 11
Step 1: Launch the Windows 11 Settings app using search or the Windows logo + I keyboard shortcut.
Step 2: On the left pane, click Personalization. On the right side, click Taskbar to navigate to the taskbar settings page.
Step 3: Here, click on Taskbar behaviors to see available taskbar positions. Click on a position to move the taskbar to the selected position immediately.
And if the Taskbar behaviors option does not appear, it’s likely because you have not installed the KB5120998 update yet, or the feature is not available on your PC yet, as it’s being rolled out gradually.
Important: The taskbar auto-hide feature is only available when the taskbar is at the bottom of the screen. If you move the taskbar to the top, left, or right, the taskbar will always appear on the screen.
