Edge, the new web browser from Microsoft for Windows 10 is not free of problems. Users often complain that the Edge browser doesn’t open, Edge browser is slow, and Edge browser automatically closes a few seconds after starting it.

For all these days, Windows 10 users had to reset/reinstall the Edge browser to fix most of the issues. Reinstalling/resetting the Edge browser requires you to delete a system folder and then executing a couple of commands in PowerShell. Novice users always hesitate to run some unknown commands and try to avoid Command Prompt and PowerShell.

I am not able to see the advanced option to “fix” edge.

If I go to the download page, it asks me “Start Edge” not to download the installer again

Does this repair work if I have the legacy version of Edge? I do NOT want to upgrade to the new version.

If Microsoft can’t make it easier to fix Edge other to follow the complicated instructions for reinstall, then it is not worth using. It doesn’t show up under apps so therefore requires reinstall. I am not a novice, but even this is a lot of work for an experienced person

This was a problem where I don’t know to start for troubleshooting! On Edge there was no connection to the web and no connection to the router. But Firefox (on the same computer) works fine. Opening the networksetings failed – The window opens, but blank! Incidentally I found this solution and I get still happy. The repair-solution doesn’t work, but the reset-solution eliminated my Problem.
    Thank you.

One of the above replies states that “Edge is a rebranded, polished turd that is Internet Explorer.” and I think it should really say “Edge is a rebranded, polished turd that is not as good as Internet Explorer & definitely not as user friendly”

But there again you can also say that Windows 10 is a rebranded, polished turd that is more intrusive & memory hungry version of all prior windows operating systems

Edge just crashes on startup, and like the above users my system is denying that it is even installed. Thanks for advice re Opera, will try that one (I do use Chrome but is’s not great on some sites e.g. BBC)

I was initially happy to see this article, since Edge has not worked for me since the Creators update. While not a “novice” user exactly, I was still hesitant to go through the long list of steps I have seen as a recommended fix. Unfortunately, like Sharon Cook above, Microsoft Edge is not listed under Apps & Features on my computer. On further checking, I am running v.1703, and I see your note above that this solution is not available for that version. Are you aware if there another option for v.1703, or do I really have to boot in safe mode and go through all those complicated steps to get Edge to work properly?

Microsoft Edge does not appear in my All apps list. Is this possibly in an insider edition? I am fully up to date at 15063.483. We have 3 computers at that build and none of them show the edge in apps just the default apps and there is no advanced setting option available.

Or just don’t use it. Chrome and Firefox and (the revamped) Opera are better browsers.

Vivaldi and Yandex browsers deserve special mention too, for innovating in their own ways. Worth a try.

Edge is a rebranded, polished turd that is Internet Explorer.
