How To Stop Windows 10/11 From Asking For Password After Sleep

Last Updated on September 12, 2023 by admin Leave a Comment

With default settings, your Windows 10/11 PC automatically enters sleep mode after a few minutes of inactivity to save power.

When you wake up your Windows 10/11 PC by pressing a key, moving the mouse/touching the trackpad, or pressing the power button, you are greeted with the lock screen where you must sign in to your user account again by typing the password, PIN, or fingerprint.

Windows 10/11 asks for your password after waking up from sleep mode so that others cannot access your computer and data. However, if you are the only person with physical access to your computer, you might want to stop Windows 10/11 from asking for passwords after sleep.

If you do not want your Windows 10/11 PC to ask for the password every time the computer wakes up from sleep mode, you can configure Windows 10/11 not to ask for passwords after sleep.

IMPORTANT: We do not recommend turning off this security feature. Because, when you configure Windows to not ask for the password or sign in after waking up from sleep, anyone with physical access to your computer can access your account and data.
