Microsoft Solitaire has been part of the Windows operating system for over 25 years and is probably one of the most played PCs games ever. While Microsoft has done away with the classic Solitaire game in Windows 10 (see how to get Windows 7 games in Windows 10), the modern version of the Microsoft Solitaire Collection offered in Windows 10 is equally good.
The Microsoft Solitaire Collection game in Windows 10 includes a total of five different card games: Klondike, Spider, FreeCell, TriPeaks, and Pyramid.
If you are experiencing issues with one of the games of Solitaire Collection or if Microsoft Solitaire Collection is not opening in Windows 10, you can reinstall the Microsoft Solitaire Collection game to address the issue.
In the early version of Windows 10, reinstalling Microsoft Solitaire Collection is not an easy job as the game can’t be uninstalled like other third-party apps. Since it’s part of the default apps in Windows 10, the game could only be uninstalled either via Command Prompt or a third-party program. Luckily, in the recent versions of Windows 10, Microsoft has made it possible to uninstall the Solitaire via the Settings app.
The following are the two methods to reinstall the Microsoft Solitaire Collection game in Windows 10.
Tip: Before reinstalling, you can try resetting Microsoft Solitaire Collection to resolve the issue.
Method 1 of 3
Reinstall Microsoft Solitaire Collection game via Settings
Step 1: Open the Settings app. Go to Apps > Apps & features page.
Step 2: Look for the Microsoft Solitaire Collection entry. Click on it to reveal the hidden Uninstall button. Click on the Uninstall button.
Step 3: When you see the confirmation prompt, click the Uninstall button.
Step 4: Once Solitaire is uninstalled, open up the Store app, search for Microsoft Solitaire Collection, and then install the same.
Method 2 of 3
Reinstall Microsoft Solitaire Collection using Command Prompt
Step 1: Open Windows PowerShell as an administrator. To do so, type Windows PowerShell in the Start menu or the taskbar search box to see Windows PowerShell in search results, right-click on Windows PowerShell, and then click the Run as administrator option.
Step 2: In PowerShell, type the following command and then press Enter key. You can also simply copy and paste the command. No need to type.
Get-AppxPackage *solitairecollection* | Remove-AppxPackage
After entering the command, press Enter key to uninstall and remove Microsoft Solitaire Collection from your Windows 10 PC. Once the command is successfully executed, you may close the PowerShell window.
Microsoft Solitaire Collection should not appear in the Start menu or other areas now.
Step 3: Close all running programs and reboot your PC once.
Step 4: Open the Store app, type Microsoft Solitaire Collection in the Store search box and then press Enter key to see the Microsoft Solitaire Collection game in the search results.
Step 5: Click on Microsoft Solitaire Collection tile to visit its official page on the Store.
Step 6: Finally, click the Install button to download and install the game.
NOTE: This applies only to users using a local user account to sign in to Windows 10. The Windows Store requires you to sign in with a Microsoft account in order to download and install an app. When you are asked to sign in, please refer to our install games from Store without switching to Microsoft account guide to avoid accidentally switching your Windows 10 local user account to Microsoft account.
Step 7: Once installed, launch the game using the Start menu search box and then enjoy your game. That’s it!
Method 3 of 3
Reinstall Microsoft Solitaire Collection using CCleaner
If you are not familiar with PowerShell or if you’re getting an error while uninstalling Microsoft Solitaire Collection via PowerShell, you can use the popular CCleaner program to uninstall the Microsoft Solitaire Collection. Here is how to do that.
Step 1: Download and install the free version of CCleaner.
Step 2: Launch CCleaner, click Tools, and then click the Uninstall tab to view all installed apps and programs.
Step 3: Right-click on Microsoft Solitaire Collection, click Uninstall and then click the Ok button when you see the confirmation dialog.
Once uninstalled, restart your PC once.
Step 4: Finally, open the Store, search for Microsoft Solitaire Collection, and then install the same. As simple as that!

I was trying to sign up for no ads game. What a disappointment.
I would like my screen restored to its original format. I want nothing to do with making any changes to the original screen I have been playing for a long time. Please restore my website to its original Solitaire.
Please let me know once this has been restored.
Thank you for your time.

I started getting ‘no internet connection’ messages in Microsoft Solitaire collection a week ago. I could play the daily challenges but not the events and yet it showed me signed in on the top right hand corner. Searching on the net and Microsoft community pages one suggestion was to uninstall it and re-install again – which I did. Unfortunately now Microsoft store does not work and will not open. The message is the same every attempt – Try that again, the page could not be loaded, Please try again later. I have spent the past 4 days searching for solutions, I have tried EVERY suggestion, even using Recovery software to find the Solitaire Collection, and NOT ONE OF THESE FIXES WORK. Microsoft store just doesn’t work and open anymore, and having deleted the Solitaire Collection I cannot download it again. The problem with the Microsoft store is all over the internet forums, including Microsoft, there are complaints about the Store not working, and the suggested fixes do not work. My laptop is up to date, has no problems so I don’t know what to do anymore. I’ve lost one of my favourite games, and because of the non-functioning Microsoft store I cannot get it, or even download themes which I often do to change my desktop. Very sad and disappointing.

I removed microsoft games from taskbar and lost it completely. I am signed in as CRUDDY FOX 610624. How do I get it back?
Simon Rosser says
Useless. Uninstalled with 10 Bit and can’t even open the Microsoft store to re-install. Have been trying for three days but no joy. Useless!
LIAM KELLEY says
I deleted that crap altogether. Kept getting a jsrky motion during the game and then it would freeze up and would have to reboot computer. Thought maybe it was a virus at first. Just got tired of it so it’s gone and I ain’t about to bring it back.
Another reason for me to lose it is the challenges against other players…..I had about 19 wins, 35 seconds and 50 third place finishes which was fine with me but then I’d have a really good game and maybe be in 1st or 2nd place only to get beat out by people with 500, 600, 700 and more wins and ridiculously low times. Took all the fun out of it.
It was like pitting T-ball kids against a major league team.

just like most evryone i get what i lost and just as quickly its gone
Jimmy Wade says
Can open everything but Daily Challenges on Microsoft solitaire collection. Download error comes up, says to check internet connection and try again. Have done this but does not help to open daily challenges. Don’t want to lose the games I have won! The daily challenge that will not open is January 9th.

Same here. I tried all fixes that were offered, and it still keeps doing the same thing: Flashes for a second and then dissapears. I wonder if they will refund my money?
kk says
tried all the suggestions, but the solitaire just appears and then vanishes quickly..!

Well, it’s obvious by all the comments that you guys haven’t a clue on how to fix the MS Solitaire Collection not working. You just seem to parrot all the solutions provided by all those other “fly-by-night” wanna-bes who think they have a clue. The collection’s broke, you don’t know how to fix it so move on to something you “might” know how to fix and quit getting all these people’s hopes up that they might get things fixed through you.

My MS Solitaire has become spasmodic interspersed with strange adverts and things that look like fairground slot machines and I resent this.

I have tried all of the suggested fixes and nothing works. Microsoft solitaire collection is gone for good on my computer. Side note: Same thing happened with Microsoft Sudoku and almost all of my windows 10 fonts disappeared had had to be reinstalled piecemeal. At least the fonts could be reinstalled. Oh, well ! What more can I say beyond Windows 10 was not made in heaven.
Fred G Husby says
There seems to be no “fix” to this problem. Microsoft Solitaire Collection is totally ruined after the last upgrades to Windows 10. One can reinstall, or roll-back, but who wants all that work for a cardgame?
There is an alternative, and it works on my W10x64 Creators Update.
Google “Windows 7 Games For Windows 10”, and you will at least get most of them. Another advantage is that there are no ads in the W7-version.
George Peterka says
I used the ‘Powershell’ method, rebooted and reinstalled from the Store. Just as before, Just as before, it says it is ‘loading’, then that screen disappears with no games starting. Now what do I do?
G Knipp says
Uninstalled and reinstalled and same problem: Solitaire looks like it is starting and then just vanishes…
Victor H says
Thanks for the “fix”, now unfix things, they were fine before this.
Don Greenslade says

why did my computer “update” and take the solitaire collection off? trying to put back on is a nightmare. you guys created my problem so it would be lovely for you to fix it too.
Mike says
Worked perfectly. My app had taken to hanging up when starting some of the solitaire versions. I had already uninstalled it, but didn’t know how to get it back. These steps worked and I’m back in business.

Have tried all the above and still no success.

THANKS ALOT

I followed the instructions to fix the Solitaire Collection problem using the first (Powershell) method, but having reinstalled the app it still does not work. Have tried the Reset method and that failed too.
John says
I am one of many people that is having a problem with the “windows 10 solitaire collection” not working! This should not be happening! Also, why does the “fix” need to be this difficult? There should be an easy fix! Shame on you !!!

Tried the two methods.

The second method (CCleaner). seems to remove the solitaire collection, but when I close and open CCleaner, the collection appears again. MS Store, reports that the collection is still installed, and will not reinstall.
