I’ve tried hotkeys, right clicking shortcut on desktop and every other method I can find. Question is why isn’t “run as administrator” in the right click menu to start with in the same instance that it was in windows 7. MS is going backwards just when I thought they couldn’t get worse.

But how do you run “Services” as administrator in 8.1 since search no longer shows results under ‘Apps”? Search now displays it in a list as ‘View Local Services”. Just highlight the selection if it isn’t the first in the list, then CTRL-Shift-Enter starts the prompt for administrator logon.

If you go to the actual program in your Program Files folder, then you can right click on it, go to Properties->Compatibility->”Run as administrator”, check that box, then the associated icon on the start menu will always run as admin.

Here another alternative to Open IE in Win8 as Admin:
    1. On Taskbar right click on Internet Explore
    2. It will show following Options in menu
    Unpin this program from taskbar
    Close all Windows
    Internet Explorer
    3. Again right click on Internet Explorer with in that menu and click on “Run As Admin”
    Done!! :)

Yes, that Ctrl + Shift + Enter always works. But not all users are comfortable with hotkeys.:)
