If you are reading this article, you probably have seen images saved in your OneDrive account in the Photos app and want to stop the Photos app from displaying them.
By default settings, when you open the Photos app, it displays your pictures in the OneDrive account along with pictures in other locations on your PC.
The Photos app automatically displays pictures stored in OneDrive account only if you are using a Microsoft account to sign-in to Windows 10 or you have signed in to OneDrive.
If you don’t want the Photos app to display pictures saved in OneDrive, you can configure the Photos app not to display images from OneDrive account. Here is how to do that.
Prevent Photos app from showing OneDrive images in Windows 10
Step 1: Open the Photos app. Click the three dots (refer to the picture below) and then click Settings to open its settings page.
Step 2: In the Microsoft OneDrive section, turn off Show my cloud-only content from OneDrive account option to prevent the Photos app from showing your images from OneDrive.
Show OneDrive images in Photos app
And if you are using a local user account on Windows 10, you can configure the Photos app to display OneDrive pictures. Here is how to do that.
Step 1: Open the Photos app, click the three dots icon and then click Settings.
Step 2: In the Microsoft OneDrive section, turn on Show my cloud-only content from OneDrive account option. You will now see OneDrive sign-in dialog.
Step 3: Type your OneDrive sign-in details and click the sign-in option.
Note that if you have added your Microsoft account to the Mail app, you will get a dialog box with all the Microsoft accounts that are currently added to your Mail app or accounts that are saved on your PC. You just need to click on your Microsoft account to automatically sign-in to OneDrive and start seeing OneDrive images in the Photos app.
Step 4: Finally, choose if you want to see images from OneDrive pictures folder or all folders in your OneDrive account.
As you can see in the image above, the page displays the total amount of space available in your OneDrive account and the currently used space.
Did you know that you can prevent all apps or specific apps from accessing documents, pictures, and videos folders in Windows 10?
