It’s been over a year since Microsoft started rolling out the new Outlook for Windows app to Windows 10 and Windows 11 computers. Microsoft aims to replace the classic Mail and Calendar app with the new Outlook app this year.
Most PC users have been pushed to use the new Outlook app, although many users prefer using the old Mail app over the web-based Outlook app. Since the new Outlook app is relatively new, it lacks several features and options that are available in the Mail app. That said, the team behind the new Outlook has been adding new features and options by regularly pushing out updates.
The sync button, which is used to manually sync emails, had been missing from the new Outlook app for a long time. However, a recent update has introduced the sync button, meaning users can now force sync emails. Unfortunately, it’s not easily visible!
Steps to access the Sync button in the new Outlook app
Step 1: Launch the new Outlook app.
Step 2: Once the app is open, click the View tab to see the Sync button in the toolbar.
Step 3: Click the Sync button to force the new Outlook app to sync sent and received emails.
A small pop-up with a “Syncing” message will show up at the bottom of the app to indicate that the syncing is in progress.
Sync keyboard shortcut in the new Outlook app
Since the Sync button is under the View tab, it’s not visible unless you switch from the default Home to the View tab. So, to avoid multiple clicks to access the Sync button, you can use a keyboard shortcut that is available to sync your sent and received emails. You can use the F9 hotkey to force sync emails in the Outlook app.
Please note that on some computers, you might need to use the Fn + F9 key instead of the default F9.

Exactly, the Sync button should have been under the Home tab.
