If you have an email account with one of the popular webmail services like Gmail, Oultook.com or Yahoo! Mail, you likely know what a junk or spam folder is and how to use it.

Your webmail service automatically identifies suspicious emails and sends them to the spam or junk folder. At times, genuine emails are also moved to the spam folder automatically, forcing you to check the spam or junk folder occasionally.

What do you do to find junk and spam when after clicking on the MORE button they aren’t even listed in the folder? Nor is there a + sign to add any sub folders on my desktop computer but the same version on my laptop has all of those.

In my mail app (Client) on Win10 (new computer Jan 2020), I have gmail, aol and and old verizon POP account. If I select the AOL or Gmail account and then do more, I can see a junk folder. If I click the POP account and do more, there is not junk folder. This may explain why some of you have the problem. I had a true Outlook client on my previous computer and like it much better. It would allow me to tag senders as junk and set rules for all my accounts, including the Verizon POP. I have come to the conclusion that this new app does not have all the features of Outlook (or they would not be able to charge lots extra for outlook). This app only consolidates mail from your online accounts. If you want to set rules, auto-reply or mark as junk, I think you have to go to the online version of your account(s) and do it there.

There is no spam or junk email folder in my email app. The app is utter rubbish like the majority of MS products.

What was very simple, now is very, very complicated! It was always handy to have a spam or junk folder next to trash. Now we have very “sophisticated” system: do this, than that and fuck – up your computer. YOU ARE IDIOTS!!! This whole Windows 10 program is a piece of garbage. Shame on you.

This advice is very flawed because there is definitely not a junk or spam folder in my windows 10 mail app. They need to go back to the drawing board on this one.

This articel is very flawed, there is no spam folder in my windows 10 mail at all , in fact it sucks. Why would Microsoft get rid of a perfectly good system like Live Essentials and Live Mail, when it worked so well for its customers and then give us this trash?

Sounds great unless you have more than 1 account defined in the Mail app. When you click More, you see a tree list of folders in each account. After you add the Junk folder from each account to the favorites list, you end up with multiple folders all named the same “Junk” folder name. You won’t know for which account is a particular Junk folder.

While you can create a unified favorite folder for the Inbox folders from all accounts, you cannot do the same for any other commonly-named folders, like Sent, Trash, etc. Users may not want unified favorite folders, too. There needs to be an option to replace the favorties pane with the tree pane (what you see when you click the More button). Clicking More shows the tree pane but it is temporary: the moment you do anything, the tree pane disappears. You lose the visual showing the hierarchical organization of folders in your multiple accounts.
