Every Windows user knows how to use Windows Media Center available in Home Premium, Professional and Ultimate editions to play videos,view pictures, watch TV, and record TV. Many users who’ve setup a Media Center TV may want to step-up the Media Center experience by installing new add-ons.
Earlier this week, we covered how to watch YouTube, Soapbox and Dailymotion videos in Windows 7 Media Center. This time around, we have another fantastic software designed to help you read e-mails right in Media Center.
Media Center Mail is a small application for Windows 7/Vista Media Center to setup and read e-mails quickly. That is once this tool installed and configured, you don’t need to manually open your web browser or email desktop client tool check for new emails.
Media Center Mail consists of two parts:
# A regular Windows application which you can use to configure Media Center Mail.
# An add-in for the Media Center application which you can use to read e-mails within the Media Center application.
Installing and configuring Media Center Mail is extremely simple.Once installed, open Start menu, navigate to the menu named OABsoftware / Vista Media Center Mail and then click Vista Media Center Mail Configuration to launch the setup dialog where you need to enter the username and password of the email account that you would like to read in Media Center. You also need to provide name of the web server, and TCP/IP port number.
You can find the step-by-step manual to configure in the download page. Please note that you need to activate Media Center Mail using the activation code (registration is free).
Finally, open Windows Media Center, click Accessories, click Email, select your email account and then click Enter key to view your inbox and new messages.
