Snip & Sketch is replacing the classic Snipping Tool that we are all familiar with. In short, Snip & Sketch is the new snipping tool in Windows 10 starting with Redstone 5 (version 1803).

If you often use Snip & Sketch to capture screenshots and you love getting things done using keyboard shortcuts, you might like the following tips & tricks for Snip & Sketch in Windows 10.

Following are some of the tips that you might find useful while using Snip & Sketch app in Windows 10.

Use Print Screen to start Snip & Sketch snip

The default keyboard shortcut to launch an instance of Snip & Sketch snip is Windows + Shift + S. Since the default keyboard shortcut requires pressing three keys simultaneously, it’s better to configure the Print Screen (PrtScn) key to open Snip & Sketch snip.

Navigate to Settings app > Ease of Access > Keyboard, and turn on Use the PrtScn button to open screen snipping option.

Create a desktop shortcut for Snip & Sketch snip

This tip is for users who use the mouse more than the keyboard! Creating a desktop shortcut for Snip & Sketch app is not useful as it won’t help you to launch the Snip & Sketch snip quickly. You need to create desktop shortcut for Snip & Sketch snip instead of the app. To do that:

Step 1: Right-click on desktop > click New > click Shortcut.

Step 2: Type the following path in the location field. Click Next.

Step 3: Enter a name for the shortcut. Click Finish button to create the desktop shortcut.

Pin Snip & Sketch snip to the taskbar

You can pin Snip & Sketch app the taskbar with ease, but it won’t help you launch the snip (it opens the app instead).
