Evernote is a fantastic note-taking app available across all major platforms. It’s one of the most used note-taking apps out there.
While Evernote is hugely popular, several new apps have been developed over the last few years. One of them is UpNote.
As of writing this article, UpNote offers two plans: free and premium. The Premium plan sets you back by $0.99/month, whereas you can opt for a lifetime subscription for $29.99.
If, for some reason, you have decided to jump from Evernote to UpNote and want to export all data from Evernote to UpNote, this is the guide for you.
Here is how to import notes from Evernote to UpNote in Windows 10/11 and Mac.
Import notes from the Evernote app to UpNote
NOTE 1: UpNote does not let you import files larger than 20 MB.
NOTE 2: Notes longer than 300,000 characters cannot be imported to UpNote.
NOTE 3: The free version of UpNote does not let you import from Evernote. So, you need to go for the UpNote Premium in order to import from Evernote using this method.
Step 1: The UpNote app cannot directly import from Evernote. You need to export Evernote notes to a folder on your PC, which you can then import from UpNote Premium. Note that UpNote free cannot import.
Evernote does not let you export all notes at once. However, it does allow you to export notebooks. So, you need to export all notebooks one after another.
To export a notebook, right-click on it, click Export notebook, select the ENEX format, click the Export button, and finally, select a location before clicking the Save button.
Step 2: Now launch UpNote Premium. Open its Settings by clicking on the gear/settings icon.
Step 3: On the left pane, click General. On the right side, under the Import and Export section, click the Import from Evernote link.
Step 4: Here, click the Select .enex file link, select the Evernote .enex file that you previously exported from Evernote, turn on the Use file name as notebook option (if you wish to create a notebook just like how it was in Evernote), click the Open button and then click the Import Notes button.
Depending on the size of the notebook, it might take a few minutes to hours. You need to repeat this for all notebooks in Evernote to import all notebooks from Evernote to UpNote. The UpNote app shows the import progress on the screen.
