Windows 10, the next major version of Windows operating system, is all set to release this summer. According to the official Windows Blog, Windows 10 will be available in 190 countries and 111 languages.

As you likely know, Windows 10 is not just for desktops and laptops but it’s also being developed for tablets, smart phones, Xbox One, Microsoft Hologens and Surface Hub. In addition that, Microsoft has already said that Windows 10 will be a free upgrade to all existing Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users who upgrade to Windows 10 in the first year after the official release.

Different editions of Windows 10

The RTM build of Windows 10 will be available in seven different editions: Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Mobile, Windows 10 Pro, Windows 10 Enterprise, Windows 10 Education, Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise, and Windows loT Core.

Although at first, it seems that there are too many editions to choose from, there are actually two desktop editions and one mobile edition available for consumers considering that Enterprise and Education editions are not available to everyone.

Windows 10 editions for desktop PCs

Windows 10 Home: This is the edition of Windows 10 you need to go for if you’re a home user. The Home edition will include all the major features like Start menu, Cortana, Edge browser, Windows Hello (face recognition login), and broad range of universal Windows apps like Mail, Calendar, Photos and Music.

The Home edition of Windows 10 will also let you play your Xbox One games from any Windows 10 PC.

Windows 10 Pro: Windows 10 Pro edition is intended for small businesses. In addition to all the features available in Windows 10 Home edition, the Pro edition helps you protect your business data, supports remote and mobile scenarios, and enables you take advantage of cloud technologies. This edition will also support the new Windows Update for Business, which will reduce management costs, quickly access security updates and provide controls over update deployment.

Windows 10 Enterprise: As the name indicates, this edition is for medium and large sized organizations. All the features of Windows 10 Home and Pro editions are available in this edition. In addition to those features, there are plenty of features tailored for organizations to help protect against modern security threats targeted at applications and sensitive company information.

Windows 10 Education: Education edition is designed to meet the needs of schools, teachers and students. The edition will be available only through academic Volume Licensing.

Windows 10 editions for mobiles and others

Windows 10 Mobile: Windows 10 Mobile is for smartphones and small tablets. In addition to plenty of universal Windows apps, you will also get the touch-optimized version of Microsoft Office. Windows 10 Mobile edition will include a feature called Continuum for phone, which lets you use your phone as a PC by connecting the phone to a larger screen.

Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise: Just like the Enterprise edition for desktop, Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise is for business customers on smartphones and small tablets. As with the case of Enterprise edition for desktop, the Mobile Enterprise will be available only for Volume Licensing customers.

Windows 10 loT Core: This is for industry devices like ATMs, handheld terminals and industrial robotics.

    @ Carlos
The upgrade is free, as you know. But we are not sure if it would be possible to rollback after the successful upgrade.
