Netflix app for Windows 10/11 now allows you to download or save movies and TV shows on your PC for offline viewing. With this new feature, Netflix’s contents are now available for download on iOS, Android, and Windows 10/11.
Netflix app for Windows 10/11 allows you to quickly view and manage downloaded movies and TV shows without leaving the app. You can view all downloaded content and delete movies and TV shows that you don’t want on your PC anymore.
While you can view the total disk space consumed by all downloaded content from Netflix by navigating to Netflix’s settings page, the app does not disclose where downloaded movies and TV shows are saved on your PC. Instead, the app shows all downloaded contents within the app without revealing the actual location on your Windows 10 computer.
Where videos downloaded from Netflix are saved on Windows 10/11?
When you download a Netflix movie or TV show using the official app, downloaded contents are stored in a folder on the drive where Windows 10/11 is installed. If the system drive, the drive where Windows 10/11 is installed, is filling up fast, you might want to move some of the downloaded Netflix movies and TV shows to some other drives or external drives.
Netflix stores all downloaded movies and TV shows in the following folder:
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Packages\4DF9E0F8.Netflix_mcm4njqhnhss8\LocalState\offlineInfo\downloads
In the above path, “C” is the drive where Windows 10/11 is installed. UserName is the actual user account name.
Once you navigate to the above directory, you will see all downloaded movies and TV shows. Netflix doesn’t use descriptive names for downloaded content, so you cannot identify them. However, the size of the file might give you some clues. The biggest catch is that these contents cannot be opened with media players like VLC or GOM Player.
Please bear in mind that the Netflix app will not recognize or play content if you rename or change the files. So, don’t try to rename downloaded Netflix content.
Change Netflix’s default download location
Although the Netflix app for Windows 10 doesn’t offer an option to change the default download location, you can use the workaround in our how to change the Netflix download location in Windows 10 guide to quickly move the Netflix app and downloaded movies to a different drive. You can use this method to save Netflix to external drives as well.

This does NOT work . . . there is NO known method by me only to access movies downloaded on a PC. All info provided to date anywhere is FALSE as it does NOT work for me!

I was able to move the entire content to the second drive in my PC by clicking Apps & Features » Netflix » “move” you would probably need Administrator rights to do so. The folders WindowsApps & WpSystem were not accessible but after some playing around with permissions I was able to get “full control” and look into each and every folder.

I am trying to move Netflix, but I get error code 0x80073cf6.

What is a good third party software to decode the file into a watchable file?

Thank you Benjamin. Your solution is extremely simple compared to the other ones, it works great!

I opened the file and it came in seperated formats. One file was audio and the other was video. It did not specify which kind so i had to search for each pair and copy them to another folder and label them. I haven’t yet been able to merge them together with any program i have found. How do i do that?
Josh 'Acecool' Moser says
Note: If you junction the downloads folder, it won’t work… If you try to move the Netflix app to a different drive using Windows 10 Apps > Move > Drive X – it will not move it…. It’ll simply create a junction of every single folder in E:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-366916338-1436120976-1582387511-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\4DF9E0F8.Netflix_mcm4njqhnhss8\* – which means all of the downloads are still on C:\ and E:\ simply forwards it to C:\ so you won’t be saving any space..
The correct way is similar to what the article says to do – except I did it differently…
Create an empty folder at this location: E:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-366916338-1436120976-1582387511-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\
name that folder 4DF9E0F8.Netflix_mcm4njqhnhss8
This path should work and show an empty folder:
E:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-366916338-1436120976-1582387511-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\4DF9E0F8.Netflix_mcm4njqhnhss8\
Uninstall Netflix – yes, unfortunately it needs to be uninstalled to trick windows. You will lose downloads if you had them download to, or moved them into, a different directory as trying to move them back in deletes them immediately – not sure why… This wasn’t a big deal for me, 100GB can easily be re-downloaded in a few hours.
Now, launch cmd.exe in admin mode – Administrator Comand Prompt should be the title…
Run this command: mklink /d “C:\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Local\Packages\4DF9E0F8.Netflix_mcm4njqhnhss8” “E:\WpSystem\S-1-5-21-366916338-1436120976-1582387511-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\4DF9E0F8.Netflix_mcm4njqhnhss8”
Change E:\ with the directory you want to move it to – if the directory doesn’t exist, move an app to this drive before moving it back – as junctions are the only things made when you move it, it won’t matter…. I’d suggest a small or sacrificial app downloaded specifically for this purpose…
Next, install Netflix app from the store. It’ll install through the symbolic link properly and all downloads will now be on E:\ or your selected drive. Everything downloads properly, and videos can be watched without giving an error…
Josh 'Acecool' Moser says
I used mklink /D ”%appdata%/../Local/…./offlinedata/download” “E:\NetflixDownloads” after shutting down Netflix app and running the above command in command prompt launched with elevated privileges. I moved all of the data ( renamed to _download before making the symbolic link ) to the new NetflixDownloads folder – now only the downloads are moved to a different drive… Although since the data can’t be opened without Netflix, having found that out only after beginning the transfer – had I found out earlier I would have used E:\AppData\Netflix\ or something… I may rename it later….
All of this still didn’t prevent Netflix from stopping my downloads 1 day earlier than my account ended. Additionally, I signed up for 4k and I went through a list of supposed 4k offerings on Netflix and they were all only available in standard definition 1920 x 1080… I paid for a long time for 4k and never once received it despite having a PC that can run it with a 1080 nVidia Video Card, and using Edge which supports 4k viewing, and the netflix app…
On top of never receiving what I paid for – honestly an anti-trust suit should be filed against them – despite my internet being more than fast enough to stream 4k, netflix set my rate to the smallest resolution for every single show or movie… I had to manually CTRL ALT SHIFT S to change it ( also CTRL ALT SHIFT D shows debugging which shows the resolution you’re viewing in, along with bitrate and more ).. But they altered it after I complained… Despite using CTRL ALT SHIFT S to manually change settings ( before I only had to go back 10 seconds and it’d force the video to stream in that bitrate for the rest with no hiccups or buffering of any kind )… Now, I have to restart the video up to 10 times and move forward and back numerous times before it changes…. They even prevented the confirm / ok button from closing the force-settings window at once point…..
Honestly, Netflix needs to get their act together. I’ve been complaining of the same issues since before day 1 ( trial ). They’ve only made things worse and they demanded more money for the UHD in December despite never even supplying it… so that was the final straw…..
I tried setting the default setting to high in the settings / account area, and it always set it to the lowest… On auto it’d take up to 5 minutes of crappy quality before it’d go up to 720p, maybe standard quality of 1080p / 1920×1080 but never to 4k despite the bitrate stating 7000 or higher on certain videos – the resolution would always be 1920×1080..
Please, check your debug screen. Take screenshots as I have and complain. They’re not providing what you’re paying for and now they’re asking for more money for a service they don’t even provide. Disgusting and bad-faith business practices…

You CAN change the download path .. in fact, you can make the app go to any destination you want.
Solution : If you want the app to totally discard the C: (Windows) drive, create a DIRECTORY JUNCTION for the “4DF9E0F8.Netflix_mcm4njqhnhss8” folder.
As follows :
a. Close the Netflix app
b. Go to the Netflix app folder :
“C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Packages\4DF9E0F8.Netflix_mcm4njqhnhss8”
c. Copy all the folders from INSIDE the Netflix app folder to the drive and destination of your choice, eg. D:\NETFLIX
d. Completely remove the Netflix app folder “4DF9E0F8.Netflix_mcm4njqhnhss8” from
“C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Packages”
ONLY THAT ONE!! DO NOT touch any other folder you see in there.
e. Create a DIRECTORY JUNCTION in the “C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Packages” folder, as follows :
Go there first with the Command Prompt as Administrator and key in :
“MKLINK /J 4DF9E0F8.Netflix_mcm4njqhnhss8 D:\NETFLIX”
f. Start the Netflix app and download a movie or episode and the app will store everything inside D:\NETFLIX
Enjoy offline watching !

I found a better way. Just write on the search bar “Apps & features” and go to the Netflix app. Click ‘move’ and select your other hard drive on your PC and it’s done.! It will move all your content plus the app there. Hope its help.
^This is the actual solution! Thank you.
